Baby, Baby! Board Book

Heather —  September 29, 2016

Baby, Baby! is a cute board book by Diane Stortz, illustrated by Ailie Busby. The book showcases typical baby abilities while teaching about God’s love. Baby will enjoy rhymes, colorful illustrations, a big mirror, familiar activities, and other smiley babies. This book combines all these features into a short rhyming poem, ending with a reminder that Baby will always be loved by God. #BabyBaby #FlyBy Take a peek at what we thought about this book:

Thrive Market Giveaway!

Caitlin Webb —  January 24, 2015

I’ve recently discovered Thrive Market, and am happy to see such a place popping up online! It has a product lineup best compared to Whole Foods, with prices and a membership setup similar to Costco (price 25-50% off retail). They also aim to make “healthy living easy and affordable for everyone”, and for every membership purchased, one is given to a low-income family.

And for the readers here – they are generously giving one year membership for free, a $59.95 value! Enter for the chance to have access all year to 25-50% off your favorite organic and natural market items.

I love shopping at my local health food store, but love online shopping even more…so I felt right at home here. I did a little research for you via an order thanks to the kind folks at Thrive and I am really excited to report how wonderful my experience was!FullSizeRender (2)

First of all, the website is gorgeous. I love clean, simple lines and this site balances a full inventory with a surprisingly clean, minimal interface. Easy to navigate and shop – which makes the process faster and much easier than in-store shopping.

The product lineup is pretty extensive. I found all of my favorite teas, baking ingredients/dry goods, snack bars and supplements. There are a few things I may still have to go to my local health food store, like refrigerated probiotics.

Oh – and an important feature – once you have an account, your shopping cart syncs across devices! I love this since I often pause and pick back up later on my iPad.

They have my favorite tea for almost 1/2 price! I actually have paid even more than the retail price they list for it – bad!

A few of my favorites…organic_Moroccan_Mint_tea_-_Thrive_Market

Moroccan Mint Tea
Cocoa Chewy Bars
Pomegranate Rose Hip Argan Oil
Raw Honey
Bragg’s Apple Cider Vinegar

great selection
easy checkout (really, really easy)
beautiful site
great mission
get your organic goods while catching up on Scandal

still get your refrigerated items at the store
shipping is average – not fast, not slow
can’t wait for even more products available

So, you can save money while eating clean, healthy foods. And, especially if you live in an area where organic foods are hard to find, Thrive Market is an essential site to check out! I am happy to share the below giveaway. Good luck!

Well planned day planner

Back to School is coming up for us!

sponsored post image3

Do you have a planner you love to use for Homeschooling?

-GIVEAWAY OVER- In the past I have done a mix and match sort of thing, using some online planners, some apps, some Mom type calendar systems.

I think even when you are being “laid back” it is magnificent to be able to look back and see that record of all the things you do over the course of a year. Humbling in a good way. Every day adds up into such a special year.

But, you can get overwhelmed trying to organize. So,

this year, I am trying to simplify, go minimal, go old school…whatever you want to call it.

I want a planner to hold in my hands. A planner that can handle all my sudden thoughts and notes.

I want Minimal, yet a mix of Mom planner and Teacher planner. A planner that’s not afraid to go Biblical on me, reminding me with verses of my faith. A pretty design wouldn’t hurt.

Plus, not an online planner for me this year. No worrying about whether I have printer ink.

When I saw the Well Planned Day Family Planner, I was drooling to get one. (I even wanted it last year).

But, there is such a thing as a budget, so I waited. And then I got a chance to review it!! (*see my notes at the bottom if you’d be interested in being a #HEDUAgal.)

So far, I like what I see.

well planned day planner

great spaces for thinking through school plans

The planner itself is 8.5 x 11, just the size to fit in your book pile or your school bag. It is spiral bound, 236 pages, with coated covers and color throughout.

The year runs July 2013 – June 2014. It is setup to organize Mom and up to four children at a cost of $26.95. (Watch for sales and bundle prices as well.) Or…win my GIVEAWAY!

well planned day planner

great spaces for memories

While the Planner is not unwieldy, it has some of my “must-haves”

  • It melds organization for home and school together. For example, you have school assignments and record keeping and right alongside, grocery lists and home budgeting.
well planned day planner

We do not school (officially) year round, so this is Mom space for now

well planned day planner

Until school starts, these blocks are MOM spots…later they’ll be more daily task/kid oriented…

  • There are special sections for planning field trips, enrichment activities and books to read.
  • They included perforated report cards. I do mine on the computer, but these are adorable and could make someone’s life easier!

Well Planned Day Family Planner

  • There are monthly tabs and a 2 page layout for each month with big blocks to write in.
  • I love the encouraging articles for each month and the verses throughout the planner.

Well Planned Day Family Planner

Overall, I think this Planner is a nice, sturdy one with a decent number of extra things, yet not too many forms I will never use. I like the convenience of not worrying about printing anything out and I’m just happy with this.

Motor Oil Matters Oil Change Checklist

Motor Oil Matters Oil Change Checklist

sponsored post image3

I grew up with a Dad who did most of his own work on the cars and when I got to driving age, some dinner table conversations revolved around Dad tips.

“Don’t ever drive with the car registering hot.”

“Check your tire pressure especially before a trip.”

“Keep your gas above half, so the old crummy gas isn’t dragged through your engine,”

“Learn what kind of oil your car needs and how to read the dipstick.”

“Don’t go into shady auto places.”

Yes, those are just a few of my Dad’s tips. Haha! I love that guy. I always did use each bit of information sometime as I grew up.

I like knowing how to take care of my car. I want to be an educated consumer and I don’t want to have to trust someone who may be taking advantage of me and my money when I get auto work done.

Even with changing the oil. A cheaper “deal” may be more expensive, because you may not be getting quality motor oil and the type needed for your car. All Motor oil is NOT the same or equal. Your auto manual will list what type oil you should use.

This new MOM program tells you much of what you should know when you get an oil change.

MOM, a new consumer education and industry watchdog program by the American Petroleum Institute, was founded to stress the benefits of quality licensed motor oils and call onto the carpet those who engage in deceptive practices.

This Summer alone, I have gone on several driving trips by myself with the kids and I am always relieved when I pull into my destination with no troubles. Of course, doing routine maintenance helps ensure fewer surprises! In fact, AAA expects between the major summer holidays of Memorial Day and Labor Day to aid over eight million motorists, and cautions drivers that auto maintenance is key to avoiding summertime travel breakdowns.

The experts at Motor Oil Matters (MOM) want to offer you a $50 gift card toward your next oil change! (US residents only)

What questions should you ask at your next oil change? MOM has provided this checklist. Take a look and even print it out to take with you on your next oil change. An empowered consumer is a SMART consumer.

Have you ever used rice syrup? A few years ago, I had not. I was at Whole Foods, thinking about how to make my traditional pecan pie, when I realized I certainly shouldn’t use corn syrup.

I asked one of the employees what she would do. She immediately pointed out the rice syrup and told me you could use that instead of corn syrup.

So…I tried it. And my family loved the pie that year.

So what is brown rice syrup?

Well, it is an organic sweetener of distilled rice flour with a delicate flavor. It is sold in jars in the baking aisle in especially health food stores…or Tropical traditions can bring it to your doorstep.

This past Holiday season, I tried the Tropical Traditions brand, as I was very pleased with some of their other products. The price is very reasonable and they have quick and reliable shipping.

Some things about TT rice syrup:

  • Gluten Free
  • Certified Organic
  • Ideal sweetener for hypoallergenic diets
  • Easy to digest
  • Great source of sustainable energy
  • Non-distinct flavor
  • Complements a wide variety of foods

After getting my rice syrup, I used this recipe for Maple Pecan Pie. I did leave out the bourbon one time and I liked it better without.

It was fantastic! This is my husband’s new favorite pie. I think Easter will have to have a pecan pie now also:)

While using the rice syrup is perfect for a pecan pie, you can use rice syrup in many ways—pretty much whenever you need  sweetener.

Try it now, while it is on sale: Special Price! – Organic Brown Rice Syrup – 16 oz.

Check it out on Tropical Traditions. You can find lots of recipes on their blog

Find more information on the Tropical Traditions Facebook page on follow them on twitter.

Or, WIN one Jar~
