General Sarge Operation B.E.A.R.

July 1, 2012

Today I want to share about a great cause I just learned about! Please take a minute to check this out:

My name is Tracy Bonzo, a public relations consultant and entrepreneur with Freefall Public Relations. First, I would like to thank Heather for giving me this opportunity to write as a guest on her blog.

Today I am writing for General Sarge, an organization that I have been working passionately with for just over a year. General Sarge has been deploying Build-A-Bear Workshop Teddy Bears to military families all over the world for the past year or so and they now have a brand new program that expands their mission of “Comforting Military Families One Furry Friend At A Time” to reach even more military families.

OPERATION B.E.A.R. (Bringing Encouragement And Recognition) is a program that provides Build-A-Bear Workshop Teddy Bears to military families and also supports the new collectible trading cards. General Sarge has partnered with OtherDesigns, a printing and design company out of Connecticut, to create a new series of collectible trading cards. The cards feature vibrant colors of the bears that General Sarge has sent all over the world. But there are also Tribute Cards to honor fallen and wounded heroes.

The first General Sarge Tribute Card honored a local war hero whose story went viral. Captain Bruce Kevin Clark was killed in Afghanistan while on Skype with his wife. When General Sarge found out that he was originally from Spencerport, New York, a town very close to General Sarge HQ, they immediately sent two Teddy Bears to his surviving little daughters. They were also able to create a Tribute card for CPT Clark thanks to sponsorship from Market Alternatives, LLC.
