Game Day Fun and Cooking

01-03-10_1753We have entered the season known around here as the Birthday season. Four of my children have birthdays coming up over the next few months. It is a nice break from the doldrums of Winter! Now that the children are growing up, it is fun to pair birthdays with other ongoing events that they enjoy. Each year we end up doing some Superbowl stuff in conjunction with Sports Boys birthday as the Superbowl usually falls right around his birthday!

With three boys and one Husband who likes sports, over the years I have:

  • Learned how to make nachos and wings.
  • Learned how to make things spicy!
  • Had a blast buying football and basketball themed platters and cups
  • Come up with some funny games for half-time
  • Sat in freezing weather to watch guys throw balls
  • Learned all about Basketball & Football scores and calls!

Anyway, I really do enjoy doing these things with my guys, and when I saw that Old El Paso was sponsoring “Tackle the Taste” gift packs, I signed up right away.  Like I said, I have learned spicy goes with Sports!

My pack included two free cans of Green Chiles, as well as a football-shaped ceramic serving platter, two sets of football-themed plates, cocktail napkins, and a themed table runner.

I was going to surprise the guys, and save everything for the big game day, but they opened the box up. Punks.

It worked out anyway, because I got a treat. My Chef Kid went ahead and made a recipe using one can of the green chiles this past weekend. He made the Seven Layer Bean Dip. I have made that dip before, but not with the chiles. I liked the kick the chiles gave the recipe, and the guys loved it.

You can win a “Tackle the Taste” prize pack for your Superbowl event!

Check out some fun recipes and resources for the Big Game and share how you could use Green Chiles to spice up your favorite recipes for a chance at winning the prize pack.

I will choose a winner on January 22nd, which should give you time to receive your prize to use it for the big game!
