Jibbitz sunglasses

Jibbitz sunglasses

sponsored post image3

I was happy to get a pair of the new Kids’ Jibbitz™ Comber Sunglasses to check out. You can see from the photo above, a little cutie I know was even happier!

I like the sunglasses because they are sturdy and have shatter-resistant polycarbonate lenses and 100% protection from UVA, UVB and UVC rays.

Little cutie likes the sunglasses because they have a fun, cool shape with the reflecting lenses and he can personalize the Jibbitz™ Joint in the temples with his favorite Jibbitz™ charms.

He is wearing the Comber style with guitar and a police vehicle Jibbitz™ charms. The police car even has flashing lights! I did not realize that until the kids figured that out and they were delighted. There are tons of Jibbitz™ charms to choose from and kids can mix and match and change them out easily.

The sunglasses run $12.99 for most styles and the Jibbitz™ charms are sold separately. Other styles include the Launch and a more girlie shape, the Glam.

“I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Polly Pocket. I received product samples to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.”*

We have had Polly Pockets dolls around our home for over 10 years now! My older daughter loved the Polly dolls when they were new and spent hours setting up her dolls with the little teeny outfits.

Over time, the Polly Pocket sets have grown and we still have a bunch of Polly sets. They are always imaginative and fun for my kids. The little portable ones make it easy to bring dolls along on errands and the bigger sets seem to keep them entertained for hours.

The newest Polly Pocket sets even surprised me. First of all, they now have Polly dolls that can change color in water temperature and the sets are more adventurous in nature, like the Zip ‘N Splash playset we got to check out.

On top of that, the latest Wall Party sets can be used for play and décor!

Seriously, this is a GENIUS idea. I always say, the “floor is not a shelf,” and my kids laugh and pick up their toys (or fuss and pick up their toys). But the latest sets from Polly Pocket can be applied to a playroom or bedroom wall and the kids can play right there, which is adorable looking and also, they get to leave their toys out! My daughter loves these and I think they look really cute in her room.

I really only share things I like and I think these are fun. They are just plain fun and do encourage imaginative play. Plus, this wall décor idea is really new and entertaining, I think.

Neighborhood Toy Store Day 2012

Heather —  November 8, 2012
dad and em playing tensi

Dad & Em enjoy Tensi, a dice game for 7+, winner of ASTRA’s Best Toys for 2012. Find in independent toy stores

Looking for something fun and local to do this Saturday?? Getting ready for the Holidays?

I got it! This Saturday, November 10, 2012, is the 3rd Annual Neighborhood Toy Store Day!

Happy Neighborhood Toy Store Day!  Celebrate the benefits of shopping local. Participating toy stores will be hosting in-store events and activities. Find a store near you here: This event is coordinated by ASTRA, the American Specialty Toy Retailing Association.

I know you should be able to find a store participating, as even MY small town toy shop will be celebrating.

We have a favorite toy store where I can wander around for ages. It is fun to browse and find unusual, often educational toys that are eco-friendly or at least well made.

love concentration

Em playing with Loopdedoo, a creative arts ASTRA winner. A well made toy that encourages creativity. I love the concentration on her face!

I am excited to mention this event, as I do believe shopping locally really supports my community. When I can find good quality merchandise, for decent prices, in my own town, I feel good about making that purchase. I like having a vibrant downtown shopping area, where we can walk around and enjoy ourselves. Every time I make a local purchase, I am helping that happen.

I had a friend mention she thinks small shops are more expensive. I disagree. The last few times I have shopped locally, I have found great deals. In fact, the last time my daughter and I went into a small toy store, we had so much more fun than shopping in a warehouse store and I spent under $20 for two sturdy, educational and fun toys. And we got a mood ring. How cool is that??

We received two toys, toys that are typical of those found in a neighborhood toy store. Both of these are great examples of good quality toys.

Dad and girls playing Tensi. Fun and simple, this is a great game when you have a few minutes

One is Tensi. When I first saw this I laughed. It looked simple, maybe boring. Not so! I have found my kids playing this all over the house. Based on a simple concept of getting 10 dice to land on the same number, this is fast fun. Yes, I’ve even played it! This dice game won a ASTRA’s Best Toys of 2012 award.

Loopdedoo, an ingenius spinner makes beautiful bracelets, belts, anklets, etc. I like how the thread is stored inside the spinner.

And Loopdedoo. My daughter has made a ton of bracelets on this to give to friends. Loopdedoo by Ann Williams is a winner of Astra’s Best Toys for 2012 award. This is a creative arts toy that makes twisted braces, anklets, belts, etc.  I really like the quality of this toy. The directions are easy to follow and the kit includes the spinning tool and 18 skeins of embroidery thread. I noticed the colors, even of the embroidery thread – the colors were classy colors.

Polly Pocket Playset

Christmas is coming….

My daughter enjoys this type of toy. While playing she is in a little pretend land, ruler of the Polly Pockets! I like overhearing her, enjoying imaginative play.

This is the second play Set we have looked at with Christmas coming up and this one does not have the new suction cups on the bottoms of the dolls and some play items. I did like those because the dolls stay up. Yet this one has a spot to tuck the Polly’s feet into so she stands. That works too. Each set has a number of little things to do, so that’s nice. The pet one seemed to really engage my daughter. I liked all the little pets and treats.

This one folds up somewhat but not entirely into a case. I would love if they would totally fold up into themselves. But this stays together pretty well and keeps all the little pieces inside.

I think this is a cute gift for a little girl from about 6-11.

You can see all the sets on the Polly Pocket website:

We also got a CD with some Polly Pocket short clips. You can see these and play on the site as well. I was a bit worried that the clips show unrealistic roller skating. Hopefully, kids realize they don’t need to go that fast? My daughter however, put her skates on and went to skate.

“I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Mattel Polly Pocket. I received a product samples and a promotional item as a thank-you for participating.”

I think personalized gifts for kids are awesome. Kids love seeing their names. And good for them:) I think actually buying personalized gifts shows an amazing ability to pay attention to others and show support, love and…organizational skills!

GIVEAWAY CLOSED Personally, I am always running behind getting gifts. I keep saying that when I’m old I’ll be better about thinking ahead and really pleasing people with my gifts. But, at the rate I’m going, my nieces and nephews do not expect much. How sad is that? I need to do better…ENTER Frecklebox personalized gifts

Frecklebox is a neat company that offers all sorts of personalized gifts for kids. They really have too many things to list here, but I particularly liked their lunchboxes and personalized books (which are eco-friendly!) I also liked the Sight Word personalized-zoo-book-best-sellerPads and personalized puzzles–what a great idea! One thing I especially like about the Frecklebox items is their style in artwork. You can choose from tons of bright and stylish artwork and colors as the backdrop for your personalization.

They have an easy ordering process where you can proofread your item and see what it will look like. The prices vary, but you can get a really original item for almost any price range, and surprise the special kids in your life.

My daughter really loved her Frecklebox lunchbox when I gave it to her…you can see that by morning she was a bit laissez-faire:)

(In fact, you can also see a couple of blooper outtakes I got of her here trying to get her feelings on the lunchbox!)

Anyway, she does cart the lunchbox around, write notes on it and stashes all her little play horses in it. Because it has a handle it is a good little treasure box. The lunchbox is a nice tin one and I like the background print she chose. She has promised her 15 year old brother that she will get him one for Christmas…the race car one. As a true gentleman would, he told her that was a good plan…

While my 15 year old has outgrown a personalized lunchbox, I know some of my readers have children in their lives who would be thrilled to get a personalized gift, so…

I am thrilled to say that Frecklebox has offered to giveaway a $40 gift code to a lucky reader!!

Mandatory Entry: Go to Frecklebox and tell me which item you would choose.
