Christian Keyboarding

We are working on posture:)

We are working on posture:)

Summary & Rating: 4 I like these no frills and well balanced keyboarding lessons. Sometimes “Old-School” is just a good way to do something! The fact that the author uses scripture for practice during some of the lessons is a nice extra for us.

elementarycoverWhile the format does not have a lot of bells and whistles, the elementary version does have a cute little ladybug helping my elementary student with her typing.

Actually I had planned to get an online typing program for my kids and had just not gotten around to it. However, now I am pleased to find that both children are into this version. Frankly, I was surprised.

I am glad though, for these ebook lessons, based on the QWERTY keyboard, carefully lead the kids. They are learning important things like posture and placement. With this, I can grade them and really see what they are learning. They do use the computer quite a bit and I think even my little one sees the value of typing.

coverartwork72dpiNick is doing the  Keyboarding for the Christian School for grades 6 and up and Em is doing the Keyboarding for the Christian School, Elementary Version for students K-5. Both children are progressing nicely through the beginning Alphabetic keys lessons. I’m not sure how long I’ll be able to have Em keep at it after the letters (she is little!) But Nick easily adds this into his schedule and has no problem with going through the paces. The older version will have him learning how to do all sorts of things, including MLA and APA formatting, proofreader’s marks, tables, etc.

I do recommend this simple, clear way of teaching keyboarding. The author also has other teaching tools. Stop by the website to see some samples of typing lessons.

Right now until February 28th, you can get a great deal. For $5 off your purchase of $12.95 or more, Type NewYear5 in the Discount Code section.

They are also offering a New Year Special where you can purchase elementary and upper level versions together for $22.

Firefighter_Cover_med_tiltedNote to all moms:) This series is adorable and has many activities to do with your kids. PS: you don’t have to be a homeschool mom to enjoy doing some of these type of things with your kids…these activity books & lapbook  type things are  great for, say, a rainy Saturday or just for “together” time. One of the things I have enjoyed most about being a homeschool mom is sitting and having great stuff to do with them (I admit it, I’m lousy at playing…:)

I reviewed this series a while back and they are all on sale right now. Click here to see the whole series -but this one is free and who doesn’t want to read about firefighters! I can think of a few little guys I’m printing this out for.

Free WannaBe E-Book!

All the kids wonder,
“What would it be like to be a firefighter?”

One of a young child’s favorite field trips is to the fire station. There he’s introduced to Mr. Firefighter, his clunky yet all-important fire suit, the awesome hook-and-ladder truck, and special lifesaving equipment. You won’t want to stop at just a trip to the fire station though! This study covers so much more–a nitty-gritty, comprehensive, behind-the-scenes look into the life of a firefighter!

All this great information and more are in one of our most popular WannaBe Series™ E-Books, When I Grow Up I Want to Be a Firefighter. This $8.95 value is yours free. Help your child discover the answer to the question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” while learning about becoming a fireman. This could be the spark that ignites the fire of interest for your child–and who knows what path it may take?

Yesterday we had a great time at the museum–Emma truly loves the dinosaurs and it is always fun to be with the “Big Boys”
Hey! I just found out I am going to be on The Old Schoolhouse Homeschool Crew for next year! I am excited. I will need to brush up on my “getting things done” skills! Actually, I need to go pray about it, because I asked God specifically to only let me be chosen if it was something I should be doing! I feel good about that. Now, I get to meet new people & try out some things for my babies. Very Cool. Better go backup my hard drive, etc:) Well, hopefully I’ll be a help to someone, including myself!! Well, I better get on with the day. PS: Harris Teeter is doing triple coupons!
