Once their favorite Scooby-Doo items are selected, kids can print or email the list to a parent. The site also provides additional fun for your child, such as helping The Gang pick out gifts for each other through an interactive poll, competing to win fun prizes, or playing games with Scooby-Doo and Shaggy. Looking for a fun and educational gift for a child?

As a homeschool mom, I’m always on the lookout for items that can be used time and time again, in new and creative ways, and this writing, drawing and playing easel from Step 2 is perfect!

The vertical easel is technically for kids 3 and up (because of some of the small pieces made to place on the boards) But, this little handsome guy keeps wanting to play with it and draw!

Now, with the two sides, a big and little brother can both have a “piece” of Easel. There is a chalk board on one side and a magnetized dry erase board on the other side. When we put it together, it did take a strong shove to get all the pieces aligned, but once in place, it felt very sturdy. The Easel is simple to clean, with smooth plastic and storage bins that come off to clean as well. It is lightweight and can be moved from one room to another for use easily.

A nice addition to a  childs room or toyroom.

Now, what is new out there for Moms AND kids that is fun?

My teenager puts it together for me!

Check out this Canopy Cruise Wagon! The adorable two-seater wagon is a wonderful item to make mom’s life easier, while allowing the kids to have a good time.

step2 wagon drink holders

I really like this lightweight yet sturdy wagon. The wagon has space for two children to be safely buckled in and shaded from the sun while going for a ride. I wish I had one of these when my daughter was younger! My daughter loved the little built in cupholders for little ones drinks and storage for snacks.

Emma checks the wagon out

Emma checks the wagon out for her younger cousins!

Yes, at age 7 1/2, Em is too big for this wagon! I let her sit in it though, to show how sturdy this wagon is! I think this would be a good wagon for a, say 1 1/2 year old to a 6 year old. The wagon was not hard to put together, with very few pieces and the canopy portion comes off for storage. The wagon handle also folds down under the wagon for easier storage and taking in the car.

I think this would be a nice way to take the kids to the beach, the playground…just makes it a little more fun when you have more than one child. Using this, they won’t feel “stuck” in a stroller, but more like they are on a grand adventure!

Neighborhood Toy Store Day 2012

Heather —  November 8, 2012
dad and em playing tensi

Dad & Em enjoy Tensi, a dice game for 7+, winner of ASTRA’s Best Toys for 2012. Find in independent toy stores

Looking for something fun and local to do this Saturday?? Getting ready for the Holidays?

I got it! This Saturday, November 10, 2012, is the 3rd Annual Neighborhood Toy Store Day!

Happy Neighborhood Toy Store Day!  Celebrate the benefits of shopping local. Participating toy stores will be hosting in-store events and activities. Find a store near you here: This event is coordinated by ASTRA, the American Specialty Toy Retailing Association.

I know you should be able to find a store participating, as even MY small town toy shop will be celebrating.

We have a favorite toy store where I can wander around for ages. It is fun to browse and find unusual, often educational toys that are eco-friendly or at least well made.

love concentration

Em playing with Loopdedoo, a creative arts ASTRA winner. A well made toy that encourages creativity. I love the concentration on her face!

I am excited to mention this event, as I do believe shopping locally really supports my community. When I can find good quality merchandise, for decent prices, in my own town, I feel good about making that purchase. I like having a vibrant downtown shopping area, where we can walk around and enjoy ourselves. Every time I make a local purchase, I am helping that happen.

I had a friend mention she thinks small shops are more expensive. I disagree. The last few times I have shopped locally, I have found great deals. In fact, the last time my daughter and I went into a small toy store, we had so much more fun than shopping in a warehouse store and I spent under $20 for two sturdy, educational and fun toys. And we got a mood ring. How cool is that??

We received two toys, toys that are typical of those found in a neighborhood toy store. Both of these are great examples of good quality toys.

Dad and girls playing Tensi. Fun and simple, this is a great game when you have a few minutes

One is Tensi. When I first saw this I laughed. It looked simple, maybe boring. Not so! I have found my kids playing this all over the house. Based on a simple concept of getting 10 dice to land on the same number, this is fast fun. Yes, I’ve even played it! This dice game won a ASTRA’s Best Toys of 2012 award.

Loopdedoo, an ingenius spinner makes beautiful bracelets, belts, anklets, etc. I like how the thread is stored inside the spinner.

And Loopdedoo. My daughter has made a ton of bracelets on this to give to friends. Loopdedoo by Ann Williams is a winner of Astra’s Best Toys for 2012 award. This is a creative arts toy that makes twisted braces, anklets, belts, etc.  I really like the quality of this toy. The directions are easy to follow and the kit includes the spinning tool and 18 skeins of embroidery thread. I noticed the colors, even of the embroidery thread – the colors were classy colors.

Polly Pocket Upgrades!

Heather —  August 7, 2012

Polly Pocket updates their toy line…

What’s better than hanging out at the pool in the heat of August?

Playing with your dolls! In this case, the Polly Pocket Hangout House Playset and Polly Pocket Stick N Play Room Assortment. At least, that’s what this girl says.

And, if you do go out, these new Polly Pocket sets can go too. They have little suction cups on all the dolls and accessories. It is funny, but they work!

I like that my daughter is not frustrated by the dolls falling over and we are not losing little pieces. I think it’s a good upgrade. The dolls are a bit bigger too. They are still little but not as teeny.

Polly pocket2

cute toy, and all the items stick, so kids can design things and not lose them.

You can play some games and see the sets on the Polly Pocket Website. (turn the sound down or any little girls within 50 feet will come running…)

*I know, they are not super eco-friendly. But she loves these!

Always ice cream site

My daughter uses Always Ice Cream and I have a little nephew checking out Clever Dragons.

This online gaming and social site is, to me, very well managed. They have moderators and security and parents are given updates on the girls and boys activities on the site.

Many of the games are educational, but some stuff is just plain fun, too. Looking at safe funny videos on here, keeps your kids off of some of those questionable sites!

There really is tons to do. This online community and educational site for girls ages k-8, is one Emma does not tire of. I hear great things about the boy one, too. Read my original review. They often have deals and you can try them out for free.

Right now, through April 10th, the company is offering Family Lifetime Memberships for families of many children with an introductory offer of $149 instead of $259 for 4 children!

The offer will only be good for 10 days. After that a Spring Special for individual lifetime memberships is coming!

Note—if you have more than 4 children k-8, contact the company for your special deals.

Go try it:

If your kids skateboard, or if you loved Army men as a kid…or if you just want your kids to have hours of fun through imaginative play, AJ’s Toy Boarders has a great toy for you.

These 2” tall little green skateboarders come in a bunch of different poses, but all balance and make for fun play. All the poses for the boarders are actual moves skateboarders would do. My kids thought these were great, and even Dad was playing with them!

You’ll see various outfits molded on the different ones…but all are green. On the package, I see that you can get up to eight styles, doing things like pushing, a nose grab, cruising…even an Ollie.

These awesome little green guys without guns run at $4.99 for a big pack. I think these would put a smile on a boarders face for sure. And…watch the site, because they have surfer and snowboarder figures coming soon. I want some snowboarders for my guys!

And, I get to giveaway a pack! Enter via Rafflecopter
