Circle C Beginnings!

We adore the Circle C Beginnings Books around here! My youngest carries them around and has done many of the learning activities they have available to download on their website (for free:)

I recommend these for your young readers. Children have the excitement of having their own chapter books, but these books are not too long for little ones. Circle C Beginnings also introduces lots of adventures and new concepts and ideas about American History in a fun, family oriented way.

My child really identifies with Andi as a young girl in a large family-although there are plenty of boy characters as well–one of Andi’s best friends is a boy and she has lots of brothers, so, boys should enjoy these as well.

One of my favorite parts of the series has to be the illustrations! Gorgeous, pen and ink illustrations with lots of tiny details to engage the reader. You can see these and download coloring pages on the Andi and Taffy website.

A few other points: the books are paperback and quite inexpensive. You can totally use these as read-alouds with your children–you will not be bored–the storylines are great!

I have more to say about these, but I saw this morning in an email that Books 3 & 4 are now available, so I am copying that email asap below and hope you will check these out and enjoy with your kids!

“Books 3 and 4 of the Circle C Beginnings are now available!

Just in time for spring, Andi’s Fair Surprise and Andi’s Scary School Days are here. Get your own copies of the two newest books here:

* Best deal for the books! FREE coloring pages and learning activites for the Circle C Beginnings are available for download on the Andi and Taffy website: www.andiandtaffy.com and from the Kregel website.

In addition, A Journey Through Learning has created lapbooks for each book. They’re full-color, with complete instructions for assembly. Tie in history and literature to make the books part of a unit study, if desired.

Meet Einstein, Science for Kids

Want to get your preschoolers excited about Science? About how to be scientist? Take a look at this new children’s book, Meet Einstein.

Wonderful, colorful and whimsical illustrations help introduce science concepts to little ones in this story. As you can see from the video, my daughter enjoyed the book wholeheartedly. It did take a few discussions for her to understand some differences between Einstein and Edison…but what great discussions to have with a five year old!

While the text is easy to understand for young readers, the writing is designed to get children thinking about what Science is…about who scientists are and how they can be involved. I think the author does a good job of catching our attention and making the reader want to go out and enjoy Science.

A neat addition to the book is a section in the back that gives parents an update about Einstein and talks about the concepts of light and gravity–and a page of questions that you can discuss with your child.

Just a great book for kids!

Take a look at the Meet Einstein website for more information and to purchase the book.

You can visit their facebook page also.

Listen to a sample of the audio, from Cause and Effect, Adventures in Odyssey #52

We love Adventures in Odyssey! I particularly like the videos (I am hard of hearing and so tend to find listening more difficult) But, the longer I homeschool, the more I fall in love with audio experiences for my kids. I like listening on trips and now I have begun having “quiet times” where we just rest and listen. And, of course, Adventures in Odyssey teach great character traits. I like that extra help. My 5 year old loved these stories !

Episode List:

The set of 4 Cds was released in October for $24.99. But, you can purchase from Focus on The Family partnering with Christianbook.com at a great price! There are also links to buy the CD or the mp3 album…or even purchase individual stories. Or, purchase on Amazon.
