I chose this book, Let Go, by Sheila Walsh, because my daughter adores the “Gigi, God’s Little Princess Bible” and stories by this author. I was curious to find out a little bit more about Walsh and excited to see what Walsh might have to say to an adult princess! I was not disappointed—In this book, Walsh elaborates about God’s character, about his bountiful grace and his love for all his children…even his adult ones.
In the chapters of Let Go, Walsh tackles some hard issues that typically weigh us down, such as legalism, living in the past, and unforgiveness. She talks about how these concerns inhibit our ability to let go and enjoy God’s faithfulness. Then, Walsh shows how our faith can clear the way to allow God to provide for our needs—basically letting go and enjoying God’s grace.
Sound too good to be true? Well, that’s the Bible! I liked Walsh’s heavy emphasis on God’s Grace and inclusion of quotes, Bible verses and tales from her own life experiences. This emphasis offers us “adults” the joy that the Gigi books offer our little girls!
I recommend this book. Walsh is an enjoyable storyteller with an openness that is refreshing. Her faith rings steady and reading her book is like spending time with a kind and wise friend. She says, “You can lay down your burdens. You can rest. You can find peace. You can live free. Start here. Let Go. And see what God can do.”
