The Jesus Book, by Stephen Elkins, is a marvelous resource for anyone who wants to share about Jesus’ life and love with children! When I opened this book up, I thought, “Wow! This is amazing…a question and answer book about Jesus…with maps and a CD!” The Jesus book, with its clear writing and colorful, lively illustrations by Claudine Gevry, really pleasantly surprised me with an incredible wealth of information.
All at once, the little book is a picture book, a resource book, and the only book you really need to explore those really difficult questions about Jesus’ life with your children. While I am reading this with my four year old, I also intend to leave it on the coffee table for my older children. I think anyone can benefit from the truths revealed in this book.
The book is color coded, with sections ranging from Who Jesus is and What Jesus did to What he taught, and even Why it Happened. The author does not shy away from subjects that are often difficult to explain to children, such as, Why did Jesus die on the cross for me? The book even includes little timelines, a scripture and topical index, and an index for names and places referenced within the book.
Oh! And on top of all that, a music CD with 30 songs is included. The songs are sweet and adorable, mainly sung by children…perfect for young children. Titles include favorites like His Banner Over Me, O How I love Jesus, and Deep and Wide.
Check out the flip book, here!
The hardback book book is priced at $16.99. Church Libraries, take note–this book is a must have! After I get settled in from our upcoming move, I will giveaway one of these. This book is just too good not to share:)
