Chocolate_Cheerios_web-12

My kids think I have flipped out…I have always been a “No chocolate before lunch” Mom. But, when I saw Chocolate Cheerios, I thought maybe it was worth a look…to maybe surprise the kids for Valentine’s Day.

I received my Chocolate Cheerios Pack and as usual, I was unable to keep the treat a secret. So, we all ended up in the kitchen, checking out our chocolate surprise. It was afternoon, so I gave to go ahead to dig in. Everyone loved the taste and they were quick to point out that the Chocolate Cheerios sounded pretty healthy overall…

So I checked out some of the stats on Chocolate Cheerios. Turns out Chocolate Cheerios is low in fat, has 100 calories per serving, contains at least 8 grams of whole grain per serving (at least 48 grams recommended daily), and is a good source of calcium and vitamin D. And, they are made with real cocoa. Yum!

Enter to win a Chocolate Cheerios gift pack for your sweeties! The gift pack includes a box of Chocolate Cheerios to try as well as a chocolate scented spa kit and a ceramic cereal bowl.

So, if you are looking for a fun way to celebrate Valentine’s Day morning…or afternoon…or, shoot, any other morning, these are fun and good. You can also use them in some creative recipes. Here are some ideas:

Oh, wow, this looks amazing… my kids would just fall over from shock.

though, of course, one thing that is an extra-special treat for my kids in the morning — to their oatmeal, sometimes, I will add a spoonful of peanut butter and about a half-dozen chocolate chips. :) Usually it is something far more boring like cinnamon and sugar, or molasses and a bit of syrup (we don't own brown sugar). But peanut butter chocolate chip oatmeal, yeah, they love that…

  3. Mornings around are house usually start with a good cuddle and back rub for my daughter. She loves this, and it helps her start her day on a good note. She is spoiled in that she usually gets breakfast in bed. **grin**

What I do to make my kids smile in the morning? Sometimes when I make oatmeal pancakes, I add some chocolate chips to them. When I bake oatmeal scones for breakfast, I usually add chocolate chips to them. When I bake banana oatmeal bars for breakfast, I always add chocolate chips to them, too! Hmmm, I see a chocolate and oats theme here. ;)

Every morning once the kiddos are out of bed, we read the Bible and pray together. Then we read our "family story." The kids love reading our book together. Even though the older two are 14 and 12, they still love hearing me read aloud. Another thing that would make them smile is a box of chocolate Cheerios!! We are chocolate lovers in this house!!

  16. Heidi says:

I have to tickle my son awake most mornings. His first response usually isn't a smile though! I make pancakes or waffles on the weekends, which usually brings about a genuine smile.

My children usually wake up happy. Not me, though. Mornings come way to early for me. My children smile because I do something silly like put the bag of cereal in the refrigerator.

OK, Now this is something that I can get into! My kids (except for my poor oldest who is allergic) will absolutely love them. As far as smiling in the morning. I am listening to my wife wrestle with the kids on the bed and they are calling me to come and join. This is a regular habit. We love it.

  29. Cheryl W says:

Something that I do to make my daughter smile in the morning is to tickle her awake. I tickle while singing the wakey, wakey, eggs and baconey song. The teenagers however are a different story. It is harder to coax a smile and positive attitude out of them in the morning hours, but I text them and tell them I love them or that I am praying for them. Hopefully that brings a smile to their face.
