“I know I’ve seen statistics before about how many books are owned by the average family, and it breaks my heart. In my area, there aren’t a lot of children’s books… I know I own more of them than the school library does. As far as why my state? Honestly, I’d prefer to see the books go to the less populated states. Particularly as I’m sure if my state won the books, they’d mostly go to inner city Denver, and not the smaller cities, and certainly they’d never get out to where they are really, truly needed… you know, all those children who live 40 or more miles from a library.”
